Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for checking out this site. It means a lot that you continue to find us through search engines and by clicking on our Twitter and Google+ pages. No wonder we have reached over 4300 views here. Bit new content is on http://www.studzupblog.com & we have transferred this content there.

Since the new site requires additional time to get used to, we have done a couple of posts so far. But fear not. New material is coming, so go to http://www.studzupblog.com for the new and old content.

Thanks again!

The StudzUp Up team.

And We Are Moving!

That is right folks. After giving this step a lot of thought, the moment has come to take Studz Up to another level. We haven’t been able to catch a break from figuring things out, schedules with our own football commitments and so on. But that doesn’t mean we were not working on the blog. Our vision has been to bring our views about the wonderful world of football to the blogesphere.

We are very grateful for all the support, comments and the relationships we have built over the past 8 months. The WordPress community has been fantastic!

But we also want to make the experience a bit more interactive. That is why we wanted to go to a self hosted site. We are still using the WordPress platform. After all, templates are somewhat easy to use. And for us not being that tech-friendly, that gives us a bit of a break. We are still working on minor details (esthetics), but the site is pretty much up. It took a while to figure out how to bring the studzup.wordpress.com content to the new site (migration was not an option :$), but we will keep working on it.

So come over to http://www.studzupblog.com! We will be posting our articles from there. We have lots to talk about. The past three weeks have been packed with transfers, rumors and a lot of expectation has been built around players, clubs, leagues and the future of football. Can Barcelona take off with the M-S-N trio, would Keylor Navas give Casillas a permanent ticket to the bench? How far would Atletico Chelsea go? Can PSG reach European Glory? Is Bayern Guarnich 2.0 going to be unbeatable this season? These and many scenarios will play out in the next couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to talk about it!

Cheers,

The Studz Up Team.

The Day After: July 14, 2014 – A Sad Day In Football

It’s not sad in the sense that Germany took home the honours as World Champions (which they fully deserved). Sad in the fact that we all woke up this morning knowing that the FIFA 2014 World Cup is over. We had the same feeling 4 years ago when we couldn’t hear Vuvuzelas.

So, rather than lay in bed and mourn the end of the best World Cup we have seen since France ’98, let’s look back at some of our favourite moments.

In no particular order:

1. James Rodriguez.  What a standout player this young boy is. He is only 22 years old and will, without a doubt, carry a big price tag if Real want to bring him to the Bernabeau from Monaco.  James was the Golden Boot with 6 goals (more than CR7 and Wayne Rooney’s WC tally, combined!) and was a huge factor in every match they played. And who can forget that goal against Uruguay in the round of 16.  Pure quality.

2. Speaking of Uruguay, the twitterverse can’t thank Luis Suarez enough with giving bloggers, writers, and the general public alike the material they needed when he took a chunk out of Cheillini’s shoulder.  What was this boy thinking….again??

3. Goals! Goals! Goals!  This World Cup saw a record tying amount of balls hit the back of the net. There were some beauties in there too.  Van Persie started a new craze called Perseing with his flying header against Spain.

There was Cahill’s volley, David Luiz’ sizzler against Colombia, James Rodriguez’s brace against Uruguay,  Messi against Iran and Messi again against Bosnia. And of course, Miroslav Klose’s 2 goals to make him the Top Scorer with 16 celebrations.

4. Belgium v Tim Howard.  In one of the greatest games of the World Cup this year, Tim Howard of the USA stopped almost everything he saw as he set a World Cup record for saves in a match.  Eventually Belgium won in extra time, but this match will go down as a World Cup classic.

5. Germany 7.  Brazil 1.  The shock of the tournament.  The streets of Belo Horazinte were flooded with tears in the semi-finals as Brzil were steam rolled on their home turf.  There were plenty of images (and jokes) that spread around the glob from this game, but one that summed up the game the most was that of the old Brazilian man hugging his trophy knowing that he won’t get to see his beloved Brazil team win the World Cup on home soil.

So long World Cup.  It was fun while it lasted.  Only 1426 days till Russia 2018.  But don’t fret, only 33 days till the Premier League starts again!!

Semi Finals Are Here

So we’re not going to be predicting any of the outcomes from today and tomorrow as we’ve proved that anything can happen at this World Cup.  And to be honest, looking at the last 4 teams, could you say any of them would be a shock winner?

So all we can say is this.  Enjoy the matches and everything that comes with it – the goals, the saves, the drama, the intrigue, the friends, the family, the tears of joy and tears of sadness.   As this fantastic tournament winds down, we should appreciate these final games and everything the beautiful game gives us!
